Fig. 2 Transaxle to engine case support bracket removal:
1. Disconnect battery cables from battery and remove air cleaner.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Disconnect vacuum hosing to all non-engine mounted components.
4. Disconnect detent cable from throttle lever.
5. Disconnect accelerator linkage.
6. Disconnect engine harness connector.
7. Remove alternator attaching bolts, then alternator.
8. Remove fan blower motor, then AIR pump and mounting bracket, if equipped.
9. Disconnect radiator hoses from radiator and heater hose from engine.
10. Remove power steering pump and bracket assembly from engine, if equipped.
11. Disconnect fuel lines at rubber hose connections.
12. Remove gas spring cylinder from hood, if equipped, then place hood in full open position.
13. Raise vehicle and disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
14. Remove engine front mount to cradle retaining nuts, located at right side of vehicle.
15. Disconnect battery cables from starter motor and transaxle case.
16. Remove flex plate cover, then disconnect torque converter form flex plate.
17. Remove transaxle case to cylinder case support bracket bolts, Fig. 2.
18. Lower vehicle. Place a support under transaxle rear extension.
19. Disconnect ground strap from engine at engine forward strut. Remove engine strut bracket from radiator support and swing rearward.
20. Remove transaxle to cylinder case retaining bolts. Make note of ground stud location.
21. If equipped with A/C, remove compressor and lay aside.
22. Using a suitable lifting device, remove engine.
23. Reverse procedure to install.
