Bulletin 85-8-23Date Apr. '86
Ref. No. 85-319-8
SUBJECT: INTERMITTENT WIPER OPERATION
MODELS AFFECTED: 1984 & 1985 CENTURY AND REGAL 1985 SOMERSET AND ELECTRA
Some pulse permanent magnet depressed park wiper motors (field dates approximately 200-4 through 115-85) may exhibit intermittent starting conditions in pulse mode. This condition may be due to a build up on the commutator.
Do not rap on motor to correct this condition. The end cap, Part No. 22038791, must be replaced per the following procedure:
WIPER MOTOR COVER AND TABS:
1. Disassemble end cap by bending tabs outward and remove end cap from armature shaft (See Illustration). Do not remove armature.
2. Spray electrical contact and tape head cleaner on clean cloth and wiper commutator clean. Apply supplied grease to end of armature shaft.
3. Install new end cap and bend tabs back to original position.
