A/T - 200/2004R, 325/3254L No Reverse/First Gear Only
TSB 85-36SUBJECT: 200 0, 200 4R, 325 & 325 4L
COMPLAINT:
NO REVERSE, FIRST GEAR ONLY. You may experience this condition on 1979-84 vehicles equipped with the THM 200, 200C, 200 4-R, 325 and 325 4L.
The transmission line pressure will be normal.
CAUSE:
This may be the result of stripped input shell splines.
CORRECTION:
If this condition is encountered, replace the sun gear shell assembly. Also, be sure to check the planetary gear sets.
Note
The spline wear may not be completely obvious without removing the snap ring from the sun gear. Figure 1.
