A/T - 3254L Bind-Up In Reverse

TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 096

TRANSMISSION: 325-4L

SUBJECT: Bind-Up in Reverse

APPLICATION: GM

Bind-up in reverse may be caused by a valve body and spacer plate mismatch. Refer to the figures for correct selection.

Do not attempt to "swap" valves to make a match. The springs and the aluminum bushings are also different. You can, however, switch the entire accumulator valve line-up including the spring, valve, & aluminum bushing, since there is no difference in the valve body casting in this area.

A momentary bind-up in reverse, and a slow release from drive (drives forward in neutral for 4-8 seconds) may be caused by the forward clutch teeth "peening" into the front ring gear, causing the clutches to become "stuck" applied.
