A/T - 3254L Repeated Failure After Rebuild

TSB 85-12

SUBJECT: 325-4L

COMPLAINT:
After a rebuild, repeat failure due to lack of lube, or no cooler flow. Follows the break-up of the overdrive gearset area.

CAUSE:

The cause may be that the bushing in the drive sprocket support has moved inward, causing the converter clutch release passage to be blocked. In addition, you should experience a slow fluid fill. If the bushing moves the other direction, the overdrive unit will receive no lube, and destroy itself.

CORRECTION:
The correction is to replace the bushing, or the complete support assembly. To inspect the bushing for proper position, use a wire probe to insert into the passages to check for clearance.
