Assembly





1. Position control valve assembly as shown in image, then install throttle valve, smaller diameter land first, into lower right bore. Make sure that valve is seated at bottom of bore then install inner roll pin between lands of valve. Install throttle valve spring into bore and throttle valve plunger, stem end first, into plunger bushing. Install these two parts, valve end first, into bore. Install outer roll pin from rough cast side, aligning pin with slot in bushing.

2. In next bore up, install accumulator bushing, aligning pin slot in bushing with hole in control valve assembly. Next install the accumulator spring, valve, small end first, bore plug and roll pin.

3. In the next bore up, install the line bias valve spring, the line bias valve, smaller stem end first, then the bore plug and spring-retaining sleeve.

4. In the next bore up, install the 4-3 control valve, small end first, then the spring. Compress spring and install roll pin.

5. In the next bore up, install the 3-4 shift valve, chamfered end first Install the 3-4 throttle valve spring and valve, stem end first, into the 3-4 throttle valve bushing. Next, install the bushing into bore, making sure pin slot in bushing aligns with hole in control valve assembly. Install roll pin.

6. In last bore up, install T.V. limit valve, stem end first, then the spring. Compress spring and install spring-retaining sleeve from machined face side of control valve assembly.

7. In lower left bore, install the 3-2 control valve, smaller stem end out, then the spring. Compress spring and install spring-retaining sleeve. Install spring-retaining sleeve gently, since damage to coiled spring may result

8. In same bore, install the lo/overrun clutch valve spring and valve, small end first. Install bore plug and roll pin.

9. In next bore up, install the converter clutch shift valve, short stemmed end first. Install the converter clutch throttle valve spring and valve, stem end first, into converter clutch throttle valve bushing. Install these three parts, valve end first, into bore, making sure pin slot in bushing aligns with hole in control valve assembly. Install roll pin.

10. In next bore up, install the T.V. modulator upshift valve spring and valve, smaller chamfered end first Install bore plug, then the spring-retaining sleeve.

11. In next bore up, install the 1-2 shift valve, with small stem facing outward. Install the 1-2 shift valve bushing, smaller inside diameter end first, into bore, then the inner roll pin. Next, install the lo 1st/detent valve, long stem end out. Place 1-2 throttle valve spring and valve, stem end first, into 1-2 throttle valve bushing. Install these parts into bore, making sure bushing pin slot hole aligns with hole in control valve assembly. Install outer roll pin.

12. In next bore up, install the T.V. modulator downshift valve spring and valve, smaller chamfered stem end first Install the bore plug, then the spring-retaining sleeve.

13. In next bore up, install the 2-3 shift valve, large end first. Next, install the 2-3 throttle valve spring and valve, stem end first, into the 2-3 throttle valve bushing. Install these three parts, valve end first, into bore and align pin slot in bushing with hole in control valve assembly. Install roll pin.

14. Install manual valve, inside detent lever rod, slot end first.
