Fluid Change

1. Raise and support vehicle, then position drain pan under transmission oil pan.

2. Remove front and side oil pan attaching bolts, then loosen rear bolts approximately four turns.

3. Carefully pry transmission oil pan loose with screwdriver and allow fluid to drain.

4. Remove remaining bolts, pan and gasket.

5. Drain remaining fluid from pan, clean with solvent and dry with compressed air.

6. Remove transmission screen, clean thoroughly with solvent and dry with compressed air. Paper or felt type filters should be replaced.

7. Install new gasket and O-ring onto screen assembly. Lubricate O-ring with petroleum jelly.

8. Install transmission screen, then position new gasket onto pan and install pan. Torque pan attaching bolts to 10 ft. lbs. Some THM 325-4L transmissions may be built using R.T.V. (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) silicone sealant in place of standard gaskets. If oil pan or side cover is equipped with flat or depressed rib flanges, see first image, use a 1/16 inch bead of R.T.V. sealant to seal surfaces. If pan or side cover is equipped with a raised rib flange, see second image, conventional gaskets must be used.

9. Lower vehicle and add specified amount of transmission fluid through filler tube.

10. Apply parking brake, start engine and allow to idle. Do not race engine.

11. Move selector lever through each range, then position lever in park and check fluid level.
