Dear Buick Owner:
General Motors has determined that some 1984 Electras, LeSabres, and Rivieras equipped with a 5.0 liter gasoline engine and air conditioning were assembled with an air conditioner cutout relay which may cause intermittant "Check Engine Light" and which could eventually lead to a loss of air conditioning operation.
To prevent this from occurring, please contact your Buick Dealer on or after the date shown below to arrange a service date to have the air conditioner relay cutout replaced. This service will be completed at no charge.
Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer. It is estimated that parts will be available approximately August 31, 1984. The time required to install the relay is about 20 minutes. Please ask your dealer if you wish to know how much additional time will be necessary to process your vehicle.
The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist you in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage-paid owner reply card and returning it to us.
We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
