A/T - 3254L Calibration Change
SIL 85-33SUBJECT: 325-4L
A calibration change took place which affected the control valve assembly, spacer plate, and associated gaskets on 1984 THM 325-4L transmissions AJ and AE models only. This change took place in production beginning at THM 325-4L transmission model 84 AJ 84686 and 84 AE 4838 (refer to Figure 1).
Since the use of incorrect service replacement parts may result in improper shift conditions, it is very important to use the correct parts with each transmission calibration.
When servicing any 1984 THM 3254L transmission model AJ or AE built prior to the listed serial numbers, use the following first design calibration service replacement parts:
When servicing any 1984 THM 325-4L transmission model AJ or AE built at or after the listed serial numbers, use the control valve assembly service package part number 8635974 which contains the following second design calibration service replacement parts:
The first design calibration spacer plate (part number 8635655) and gaskets (part number 8635919) can not be used on the second design calibration control valve assembly (part number 8639641).
The second design calibration gaskets (part number 8635982) can be used to service either the first or second design calibration control valve assemblies and spacer plates.
IMPORTANT
Some Transmission overhaul kits (part numbers 8635977 and 86335916) may contain case side and control valve side spacer plate gaskets. These gaskets can only be used with a first design 1984 model year control valve assembly "AJ1" identification and spacer plate "AB" identification. Transmission overhaul kits assembled after mid September, 1984 will no longer contain these gaskets.
