RTV Sealant - Usage Precaution
Bulletin 84-6-3Date OCT. '83
Ref. No. 83-237-70
SUBJECT: RTV SEALANT USAGE PRECAUTION
MODELS AFFECTED: ALL
Care must be exercised not to get RTV sealant into the bolt holes when using it for application such as; at valve cover and transmission pans. If the sealer gets into a blind hole, it will form a hydrostatic lock and may prevent the bolt from clamping the cover. If the bolt is then overtightened in an effort to pull it down, damage may then be experienced, such as broken bosses on aluminum cylinder heads.
