Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Electronic Touch Climate Control Panel:

Fig. 6 System malfunction diagnostic codes.:

The ``Electronic Touch Climate Control System'' identifies malfunctions with temperature sensors or temperature actuator. A flashing Light Emitting Diode (LED) annunciator is used to alert the operator to a malfunction. The LED flashes for 60 seconds after each start until the problem has been corrected. By firmly depressing the ``Diagnostic'' key pad switch, the system displays a diagnostic number representing a specific malfunction, Fig. 6. The ``Diagnostic'' key pad switch is located in the blank area between the ``HI'' fan and ``EXT TEMP'' key pad switch.

Temperature control complaints may be caused by refrigerant problems, electrical wiring or vacuum problems, an electronic control malfunction, or mechanical problems such as air flow control valves in A/C module assembly sticking.
