SUBJECT: A/C SYSTEM REPLACEMENT O-RINGS

NOTE: This bulletin supersedes Bulletin 85-1-17 dated April, 1985. Please discard original bulletin and replace it with this one.

All 1985 Buicks and the 1984 Skyhawk may use "captured"-type O-rings at refrigerant hose and tube connections. All other past model Buicks use the "standard type" O-ring configuration. The A/C compressor ports to hose assembly continues to use a special O-ring. A new O-ring, specifically for the 3/4" tube of an evaporator/condenser block fitting, has been released. The 1/2" tube of the evaporator/condenser block fitting and the 3/8" tube of the condenser block fitting will continue to use the previous captured O-ring..

The torque specification for the evaporator block fitting bolt (1) has been revised to:

Evaporator Block Fitting Bolt (1), 17 N-m (12 ft.lbs.) Condenser Block Fitting Bolt (1), 12 N-m (9 ft.lbs.)
Replacement O-rings are available from GMWDD under the following part numbers:
