Seats - Six-Way Seat & Window Switch Removal
Bulletin 85-10-2Date April '84
Ref. No. 84-095-10
SUBJECT: SIX-WAY SEAT AND WINDOW SWITCH REMOVAL
MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 ELECTRA
If one of the subject switches requires replacement make certain that the power feed circuit is not shorted to any other wire in the circuit before installing a new switch. If this procedure is not followed and a short exists, the short will cause the replacement switch points to burn.
In addition, when disconnecting the seat switch from the wiring harness, extra care must be taken not to short across the switch hot feed terminal and a switch ground terminal. If above condition occurs, the seat switch can be shorted.
Also, when disconnecting a window switch, the ignition switch must be in the off position. This procedure will eliminate the possibility of shorting out the window switch if a screwdriver or awl is used to remove the switch from the harness.
