Technical Procedure

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ASSEMBLY:




A. Inspection

1. If the "Service Engine Soon" light operates during engine starting, no further action is required except to apply a Campaign Identification Label, Part C of procedure.

2. If the "Service Engine Soon" light does not operate during cranking and fuse (Number 16 on fuse box) is okay, install bulb and socket in cluster, Part B of procedure.

B. Installation of Bulb and Socket

1. Remove instrument cluster housing assembly. Refer to page 8C3-5 and 6 in the 1985 "Buick Chassis Service Manual."

2. Obtain bulb 9421330 and socket 25015169 from Parts Department.

3. Insert bulb into socket and install these parts into "Service Engine Soon" cavity of Instrument Panel cluster indicated in illustration.
4. Reinstall instrument cluster assembly into instrument panel.

5. Check operation of light.

6. Open vehicle hood, and install Campaign Identification Label, Part C of Procedure.
C. Campaign Label

Install Campaign Identification Label.. Each vehicle modified in accordance with the instructions outlined in this service procedure will require a Campaign Identification Label. Each label provides a space to include the campaign number, the five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service, and the date the vehicle was campaigned. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ballpoint pen. When installing label, clean the surface of the radiator upper mounting support and apply the campaign label where it is readily visible.
