Exterior Trim - Rear License Plate Sticker Not Visibible
Bulletin 85-10-4Date June '84
Ref. No. 84-264-10
SUBJECT: ILLINOIS REAR LICENSE PLATE STICKER VALIDATION NUMBER NOT VISIBLE
MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 ELECTRA AND PARK AVENUE
We have heard of a condition in Illinois where the validation number on the renewal sticker on the rear license place may not be fully visible when the plate is installed in the license plate holder.
If this condition is noted it can be repaired by either of the following methods:
1. Measure and cut a piece of 1/4" or 3/8" vacuum hose and install across bottom of license plate slot to raise license plate.
2. Center punch and drill new holes 3/8" below existing holes in top of plate. Attach plate using new holes.
NOTICE: This method should be done only with the approval of the owner. It affords more freedom from the possibility of a rattle, but may be undesirable to the owner who might transfer the plate to another vehicle in the future.
Care should also be taken if the dealer is installing the renewal sticker on the plate. Install the sticker high enough to be fully visible in the normal plate position to avoid the above condition.
