SUBJECT: EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET
MODELS AFFECTED: 1.8L OHC TURBO ENGINES (VIN CODE J)
EXHAUST MANIFOLD:
A new exhaust manifold gasket is now available for the 1.8L OHC Turbo (VIN Code J) engine. The new gasket has a stainless steel backing with wire mesh rings. The rings are easily visible, and go to the exhaust manifold side. Also, the expansion joints between the port holes should face outward..
The part number of the new gasket is 10037304. Also, new fasteners should be used as follows:
(5) 10032112 - Bolt with lock washer asm.
(3) 10037828 - Stud bolt with lock washer asm. should be used in positions #1, 2, and 3 (upper).
Torque all fasteners to 27 N-m (20 lb. ft.).
