A/C - Eliminate Odors & Mold Growth

Bulletin 85-1-8

Date Dec. '84

Ref. No. 85-086-1
SUBJECT: OUTSIDE AIR VENTILATION

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL WITH AIR CONDITIONING

Occasionally, undesirable odors arise from the air conditioning system. Warm, moist air is conducive to growth of mold and other odor producing material.

To help eliminate odors and mold growth in the air conditioning system, try the following procedure:

1. Set the Electronic Climate Control on to 75~ temperature setting and "HI" blower speed. (Set C60 temperature lever to midway position).

2. Open the hood to gain access to the air inlet slots at the base of the windshield.

3. Spray a disinfectant in the air inlet for about 5 to 10 seconds.

4. Turn the air conditioner off and let stand for 2 or 3 hours.

It may be necessary to treat the system a couple of times a year, depending on use and climate. This procedure is applicable to all air conditioned cars that may have developed odors in the air distribution system.
