1983---88 Mechanical Cluster
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering column opening filler, then the ash tray.
3. Remove seven left hand trim panel attaching screws.
4. Place gear shift lever into low position and pull trim panel straight forward to release two retaining clips in center of panel, then remove panel.
5. Remove 4 screws attaching cluster assembly to instrument panel, Fig. 9.
6. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission. If two piece cable is used, disconnect in engine compartment to ensure there is cable slack.
7. Remove shift indicator clip and position gear selector in low.
8. Pull cluster assembly out far enough to reach behind and disconnect speedometer cable.
9. To ease removal of cluster on vehicles equipped with tilt wheel, lower wheel, then unscrew tilt lever.
10. On all models, tilt top side of cluster assembly downward and remove cluster.
11. Reverse procedure to install.



1983---88 Digital Cluster
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering column opening filler, then the ash tray.
3. Remove seven left hand trim panel attaching screws.
4. Place gear shift lever into low position and pull trim panel straight forward to release two retaining clips in center of panel, then remove panel.
5. Remove 4 screws attaching cluster assembly to instrument panel.
6. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission. If two piece cable is used, disconnect in engine compartment to ensure there is cable slack.
7. Pull cluster assembly out far enough to disconnect optics head from vehicle speed sensor, then remove cluster assembly.
8. Disconnect 2 electrical connectors on printed circuit from the tube and circuit board assembly.
9. Remove cluster push buttons by pulling straight out.
10. Remove lens and bezel attaching screws, then lens and bezel.
11. Remove tube and circuit board to cluster attaching screws, then tube and circuit board.
12. Remove mechanical odometer from tube and circuit board.
13. Remove 2 telltale lenses and pads from face plate. Shift indicator needle, spring and cable stay with tube and circuit board.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
