A/T - 440T4 Delayed Engagement

SUBJECT: 440 T4

COMPLAINT:
Delayed engagement after vehicle has been parked for several hours.

POSSIBLE CAUSE:
The problem may be torque converter drainback. To verify, check fluid level before starting engine. if fluid level is abnormally high on the dipstick, the fluid has drained out of the converter into the pan.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
Cooler check ball is not seating. Remove cooler check ball assembly, and clean or replace.




Note
The check ball is made into the case cooler line fitting. (Location as shown in Figure 1)
