R.T.V. Sealed Oil Pans

1. Raise and support vehicle, then place a suitable container under transaxle oil pan. If oil pan is retained with R.T.V. sealant, a special bolt must be constructed to remove oil pan. This bolt may be constructed by grinding down a section of shank diameter, just below the head, to 3/16 inch.

2. Remove bolt A, then install and finger tighten special bolt.

3. Loosen bolt B, approximately four turns, then remove remaining oil pan attaching bolts. Do not pry oil pan from case as damage to flange may occur.

4. Strike corner of oil pan, using a suitable mallet, as described, then remove special bolt and allow fluid to drain.

5. Remove oil pan, the screen/filter and O-ring.

6. Inspect oil pan and screen for foreign material and clean as necessary.

7. Remove excess R.T.V. material from mating surfaces using a suitable tool; then clean oil pan and screen in a suitable solvent and blow dry. Ensure case and oil pan flanges are free of oil film as leakage may result.

8. Apply a suitable lubricant to new O-ring, then install new filter O-ring and screen. Install and tighten attaching bolts.

9. Apply a 1/16 inch bead of R.T.V. sealant to oil pan flange, then install oil and onto transaxle case.

10. Insert and tighten attaching bolts.

11. Fill transaxle to capacity using Dexron II type transmission fluid.
