Steering Column - Removal and Installation

Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove center, then lower instrument panel trim plates.
3. Remove left side sound insulation above foot well.
4. Remove shift indicator cable from shift bowl, then the steering column mounting bolts, Fig. 2.
5. Disconnect steering column wiring connectors.
6. Remove shift cable from steering column, Fig. 2.
7. Remove bolt connecting intermediate shaft to steering shaft, Fig. 3.
8. Remove steering column from vehicle.
Installation
1. Position steering column in vehicle, then connect intermediate shaft to steering shaft and install bolt. Torque bolt to 35 lb ft, Fig. 3.
2. Connect shift cable to column, Fig. 2.
3. Connect steering column wiring connectors.
4. Install steering column mounting bolts. Torque bolts to 20 lb ft
5. Install shift indicator cable, lower and upper instrument panel trim plates.
6. Install left side sound insulation.
7. Install battery ground cable.
