SUBJECT: METRI-PACK SERIES 150 TERMINAL REMOVAL
MODELS AFFECTED: ALL 1986 MODELS
METRI - PACK SERIES 150 TERMINAL REMOVAL:
Some connectors used to connect various sensors to the ECM Harness are Metri-Pack Series 150 as shown in Figure A. (The example shown is a three terminal type.) These connectors may be used at the cam, crankshaft, and coolant sensors, along with ignition modules.
Terminals in these connectors are the pull-to-seat type. The wire is inserted through the seal (5) and connector body (4). The terminal (1) is crimped to the stripped wire, then pulled back into the connector body until it is locked in place.
To remove the terminals (1), first slide the seal (5) back on the wires, then insert tool (3) BT-8448 or J35689-A, as shown in Figure B.
To release the terminal, push the wire and terminal through the connector. If reusing the terminal, reshape the locking tang (2).
