Removal and Replacement

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and the detent/T.V. cable at throttle. Remove filler tube.

2. Raise vehicle.

3. Remove flywheel inspection cover, then the flywheel to converter bolts.

4. Remove T.V. cable retaining bolt, then remove T.V. cable from link and plug hole. Remove shift control cable on console equipped models.

5. Remove catalytic converter bracket.

6. Remove propeller shaft.

7. Remove rear transmission mounting pad bolts.

8. Support and raise transmission with a suitable jack, then remove crossmember support and mount.

9. Lower transmission slightly and disconnect shift linkage, speedometer cable, T.V./detent cable, electrical leads and oil cooler lines.

10. Remove transmission to engine bolts and the filler pipe.

11. Move transmission rearward and lower from vehicle. Use caution not to damage converter.

12. Reverse procedure to install.
