Steering Column - Removal and Installation

Removal
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove left hand instrument panel sound absorber.
3. Remove steering column trim cover, then the upper mounting bracket bolts and harness protector.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors from column.
5. Remove pinch bolt, then the lower column attaching bolts, Fig. 3A.
6. Disconnect shift linkage from steering column, then remove column assembly.
Installation
1. Position column assembly in vehicle, then reconnect shift linkage.
2. Install lower column attaching bolts, then the pinch bolt. Torque to specifications shown in Fig. 3A.
3. Reconnect electrical connectors, then install harness protector and the upper mounting bolts.
4. Install column trim cover and instrument panel sound absorber, then reconnect battery ground cable.
