SUBJECT: CLINCHED NUT REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR SUNROOFS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986 ELECTRA AND RIVIERA


If the clinched nuts used on sunroof module housings loosen and spin during disassembly, the following repair procedure should be used.

1. Grasp nut with needle nose pliers to secure until screw is removed.

2. Apply Loctite (R) Super Bonder #496 or equivalent between flange of nut and housing. Rotate nuts to spread glue and allow 10 minutes minimum for glue to set-up. If possible, it is preferable to allow eight hours for glue to fully cure.

3. Complete reassembly.
