MODELS AFFECTED: 1982-88 SKYHAWKS WITH L-4 OHV ENGINES (VIN CODES 1, G, P)


SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE

Service manual specification for the piston-to-bore clearance needs to be corrected. Following is the current model year correction, along with a restatement of past model years:

1987-88 Skyhawks With VIN Code 1 Engines:

Piston-to-bore clearance = .001" - .0022"
(.025 mm - .055 mm)

Piston-to-pin clearance = .0004" - .0009"
(.010 mm - .022 mm)

1982 thru 1986 Skyhawks With VIN Code G, P Engines:

Piston-to-bore clearance = .0007" - .0017"
(.017 mm - .043 mm)

Piston-to-pin clearance

1982-1984 = .0003" - .0004"
(.007 mm - .009 mm)

1985-1986 = .0002" - .0007"
(Production) (.005 mm - .010 mm)

1985-1986 = .0004" - .0009"
(Revised Service Parts) (.010 mm - .022 mm)
