SUBJECT: REAR CAM COVER SEALING
MODELS AFFECTED: 1982 THRU 1986 SKYHAWKS WITH LQ5 (VIN CODE P) ENGINES
An improved seal for the rear cam cover, kit Part No. 10054590, is available to replace the RTV sealant and cover plate on the above engines. The sealing surface should be thoroughly cleaned and the core plugs in this area checked to ensure they are either flush or below the surface of the block prior to installing the kit. The kit includes a new cover (Part No. 14090972); and gasket (Part No. 14090974).
Torque bolts to 8-14 N-m.
Use existing labor operation number and labor time.
