Digital Instrument Cluster - ID of Manufacturing Source

Bulletin 86-8-6

Date

Jan. '86

Ref.No. 86-061-8
SUBJECT: IDENTIFICATION OF MANUFACTURING SOURCE FOR DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986 SKYLARK AND SOMERSET

Identification of 1986 Skylark and Somerset Digital Instrument Cluster for exchange requests can be accomplished without removal of the instrument cluster trim plate.

The lens has a white trim line that surrounds the cluster. The positioning of this line at the top of the cluster in relation to the switch knobs is different between the AC Spark Plug and Yazaki clusters.

The following dimensions are the distance between the top of the fuel
and gauge knobs and the white line trim at the top of the cluster:

AC Spark Plug cluster: 1 - 2 mm
Yazaki cluster: 7 - 8 mm

To identify between 1st design and 2nd design AC Spark Plug clusters, a knob will still have to be removed and checked. Please note this information on the last two pages of the Service Bulletin 86-8-3, dated November 1985.
