CONDITION INVOLVED

General Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1987 LeSabres and Electras/Park Avenues. These vehicles have in-line fusible links located in the area of the plastic windshield washer bottle bracket. Under a high resistance load, the in-line fusible link may melt down and ignite the windshield washer bottle bracket, resulting in an engine compartment fire without prior warning.

DEALER ACTION

To prevent this condition, dealers are required to replace windshield washer bottle bracket on suspect vehicles, per the Vehicles Involved and Technical Procedure sections of this bulletin.
