Master Cylinder Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Brake fluid will damage electrical connections and painted surfaces. Use shop cloths, drip pans and fender covers to prevent brake fluid from contacting these areas.

Fluid Level Sensor Switch:





Removing/Installing Master Cylinder Assembly:





Removal:
1. Remove electrical connector from fluid level sensor switch.
2. Remove brake pipes from master cylinder. Plug open pipes to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
3. Remove the two master cylinder attaching nuts.
4. Remove master cylinder.


Installation:
1. Install master cylinder with attaching nuts and torque to 27 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
2. Install brake pipes and torque to 24 Nm (17.0 ft. lbs.).
3. Install electrical connector to fluid level sensor switch.
4. Fill master cylinder to proper level with clean brake fluid. Proper level is between min. and max. indicator levels in opening on top reservoir.
5. Bleed hydraulic system. Refer to Brakes/Service and Repair/Bleeding Procedure. Service and Repair
6. Recheck fluid level.
