Oil Pressure Warning Light - Comes ON
DCS NO. 87-05AGROUP NO. 6
February 23, 1987 DISOSS MESSAGE
SUBJECT: OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON - 1987 RIVIERA
TO: All Buick Dealers
THIS REPLACES DCS 87-05, DATED DECEMBER 7, 1986.
ATTENTION: BUICK DEALERS BE SURE TO REVIEW THIS INFORMATION WITH ALL SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL
Some 1987 Rivieras may experience a condition where the oil pressure warning light comes on, an electrical system diagnostic message appears on the Instrument Panel Cluster, and a diagnostic Code B131 is set. This condition is caused by a false signal from the sensor to the body computer.
If this condition occurs, replace the engine oil pressure sensor with part Number 1643531, available from GMSPO, which will reduce but not necessarily eliminate the condition.
Effective January 5, 1987, (VIN 406986) a new EPROM went into production which eliminates this code from being set and the oil warning light from coming on.
We anticipate the new EPROM to be available for service in early March, 1987.
