SUBJECT: COLD DRIVEABILITY - HESITATION/SAG

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 SKYHAWKS WITH THE LT-2 2.0L OHC L-4 ENGINE (VIN CODE K)

The 1987 Skyhawk with the 2.0L OHC engine and automatic or manual transmission may exhibit a cold hesitation or sag below approximately 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

If other system problems, i.e., ignition or fuel feed, are not causing the cold drive problem, then an Air Fuel (A/F) mixture drop tube should be installed. The inlet manifold mixture tube improves cold fuel (liquid) distribution to the inlet runners, thus improving cold-to-warm driveability.

The accompanying drawing shows the installation of the mixture drop tube kit, Part Number 10106050, which includes two gaskets and metal drop-tube.
