Alignment - Specifications

Bulletin 87-3-6

Date Jan., '87

Ref. No. 87-064-3
SUBJECT: 1987 GM PASSENGER CAR ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL 1987 GM PASSENGER CARS

Alignment specifications for all 1987 GM passenger cars are being published here due to some recent specification changes. Many of the recent changes have been reductions in toe for improved tire wear.

Four-wheel alignment is recommended whenever rear suspension is adjustable. Four-wheel alignment equipment, such as in the GM Dealer Equipment Catalog, is recommended. Alignment equipment must be calibrated on a regular basis.
Notes: ^ All specifications, including toe, are in degrees.
^ All toe specifications are total (sum) toe with appropriate steering wheel or thrust angle requirements. (Individial toe may be obtained by dividing total toe in half. Ex: .1~ +/- .2~ total toe = .05~ +/- .1~ individual toe).
^ Positive toe is toe-in.
^ Cross caster equals left caster minus right caster.
^ Cross camber equals left camber minus right camber.
^ Thrust angle is the angle between the path the rear wheels will take and the car's centerline.
