Bulletin: 87-6E-27

Date: Feb. '88

Ref. No.: 87-224-6E

Corp. Ref. No.: 736527
SUBJECT: PCV VALVE RUBBER ELBOW-LOOSE/DISCONNECTED

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 CENTURYS, SOMERSETS, AND SKYLARKS WITH 2.5L L-4 ENGINES (VIN CODES R AND U)
Some 1987 Buicks with 2.5L L4 engines (VIN Code R and U) may experience vacuum leaks and subsequently set a Code 35 in the ECM.

This condition may be caused by a disconnection of the rubber elbow from the PCV valve which could have occurred during vehicle assembly and/or during repair.

If an engine is diagnosed through normal service procedures as having a loose or disconnected PCV valve rubber elbow, install a clamp P/N 10044319, in the location shown (See Diagram). Crimp the clamp with tool J35566 or equivalent.

NOTICE: 1987 subject models received on dealership lots after March 1, 1987, had the clamp factory-installed.
