SUBJECT: REVISED QUARTER WINDOW MODULE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES
MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-87 SOMERSETS 1986-88 SKYLARKS
A new procedure has been developed for modular quarter window installation to prevent itching noise and paint damage. A tape has been released, Part Number 12393610, to provide the required clearance of the module to the body. This tape is to be added to the module prior to installation.
It is also recommended that no urethane solvents or solvent cleaners be used on the window module as they could cause cracking or crazing of the plastic module.
When removal or replacement of the quarter window module is required for any reason, the following installation procedure must be used.
REMOVAL
Remove the quarter window module as described in the 1988 Body Service Manual.
CLEANING
DO NOT USE SOLVENTS of any kind on the plastic module material. Trim off any loose urethane material to prepare the module for installation.
