Flexplate/Torque Converter Vibration Test

Some engine/transmission combinations cannot be balance in this manner due to limited clearances between torque converter bolts and engine.

1. Start engine, then with engine idling and transmission in Park or Neutral, observe vibration.

2. Shut engine Off, then remove converter shield attaching bolts and converter shield.

3. Remove flywheel to torque converter attaching bolts, then rotate torque converter 120° (1/3 turn).

4. Install flywheel to torque converter attaching bolts and torque to specifications.

5. Install converter shield and torque attaching bolts to specifications.

6. Start engine and check for vibration, if vibration still exists, repeat procedure until best possible balance is obtained.
