No Converter Clutch Apply

1. Check for the following electrical problems:

a. 12 volts not being supplied to solenoid.

b. Defective solenoid.

c. Damaged electrical connector.

d. Defective pressure switch.

e. Wire grounded.

f. Also, refer to "Computer Controlled Converter Clutch Diagnosis" for electrical diagnosis.

2. Check control valve assembly and spacer plate for a sticking converter clutch shift valve or throttle valve.

3. Inspect pump assembly for the following:

a. Plugged converter signal oil orifice in pump.

b. Damaged or missing solenoid O-ring.

c. Orifice cup plug missing in oil cooler passage in pump.

d. Damaged or improperly positioned pump to case gasket.

e. Converter clutch apply valve stuck.

f. Cup plug missing from apply passage.
