No Engine Braking In Manual LO/1ST Gear
1. Check for improperly adjusted manual linkage.2. Inspect control valve assembly and spacer plate for the following:
a. D-3 orifice in spacer plate plugged.
b. Valve body gaskets leaking, damaged or incorrectly installed.
c. D-2 oil pipe leaking or out of position.
d. Lo overrun clutch valve binding in valve body.
e. Lo/Reverse check ball No. 10 improperly positioned or missing.
f. Lo/Detent check ball No. 9 improperly positioned or missing,
g. PT/D-3 check ball No.3 improperly positioned or missing.
3. Inspect turbine shaft and overrun clutch for the following:
a. D-3 oil passage in turbine shaft plugged or not drilled through.
b. D-3 oil passage not drilled through in overrun clutch hub.
c. Missing or damaged oil seals in the overrun clutch piston.
d. Burned overrun clutches.
e. Overrun clutch backing plate snap ring out of groove.
4. Inspect case for porosity.
5. Inspect Lo/Reverse clutch assembly for the following:
a. Broken or missing piston seals.
b. Clutch housing snap ring out of case.
c. Cracked or porous piston or housing.
d. Missing or damaged cup plug or rubber seal between case and Lo/Reverse clutch housing.
