Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative cable at the battery
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Drive belt
4. Pulley bolts
5. Water pump pulley
6. Heater hose
7. Water pump attaching bolts then remove the water pump

CLEAN
^ Be sure the sealing surfaces are clean and free of traces of the old gasket.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Coat bolt threads with pipe sealant part no. 1052080 or equivalent.
2. Using a new gasket, install the pump
Tighten
^ Bolts to 10 Nm (89 in. lb.)
3. Heater hose
4. Water pump pulley
Tighten
^ Bolts to 21 Nm (15 ft. lb.)
5. Drive belt
Adjust
^ Adjust drive belts
6. Fill the cooling system.
7. Connect the battery, then start the engine.

INSPECT
^ Check for coolant leaks
