Ref. No.: 88-221-10

Corp. Ref. No. 811511R

SUBJECT: METAL CREAKING IN LEFT CENTER PILLAR AT LOWER ROCKER PANEL

MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 Buick Electra/Park Avenue

FIGURE 1 - LOWER ROCKER FLANGE:

Some 1988 Buick Electras/Park Avenues may exhibit a condition of sheet metal creaking at the lower center pillar area. This creaking is most apparent on sudden acceleration or stopping. This condition may be caused by a movement of sheet metal in the center pillar lower rocker area.

To repair this condition, re-form the lower rocker flange (Refer to Figure 1) inboard about 6 mm by using a hammer and caulking spoon. Test drive the vehicle to confirm this repair eliminated the creaking sound.
