Troubleshooting Hints

NOTE: Try the following checks before doing the System Check.

1. Check for vacuum at VIO vacuum tube from the vacuum source where it enters the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) Programmer.

2. Check that the ECC Programmer connector is mated correctly.

3. Check the operation of the Temperature Valve by setting the temperature first to 60° then 90° and back again. The Temperature Valve should move through its full travel each time the temperature setting is changed.

4. Use the internal diagnostic codes to identify any conditions due to the temperature sensors or the Temperature Valve. Refer to System Diagnosis for a description of the codes. Testing and Inspection

^ Refer to the System Diagnosis / Procedures / Functional Test for a guide to normal operation and diagnostic references. Testing and Inspection

NOTE: If the programmer must be tested, be sure to keep it vertical to enable gravity to close off all vacuum supply through the solenoids not activated by the heater and A/C control assembly.

NOTE: For testing of Blower Motor and Compressor Controls, refer to Testing and Inspection for each specific component
