SUBJECT: WATER LEAKS IN DASH OR HEATER DUCT AREA
MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 REGAL
Customer comments of water leaks in the dash area or heater duct area may be caused by water entry via the door weatherstrip.
To verify this condition, remove the door opening garnish moldings along the roof and windshield pillar. Pull the door weatherstrip from the flange and inspect for water in the flange channel.
If water is present in the weatherstrip channel, dry and apply a bead of weatherstrip adhesive, 3M 8011 or equivalent, in the channel from the upper rear corner of the door opening to the bottom of the windshield. In all cases, pinch the channel closed and reinstall.
Water test to verify repair.
