Ignition & Dimmer Switch - Floor Shift



IGNITION & DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


Standard Column (Floor Shift):









Remove or Disconnect

1. Place lock cylinder (25) in "Off-Lock" position.
2. Steering column from car.
3. Turn signal switch connector (11) from ignition and dimmer switch assembly connector (45).
4. Bowl shield (33), if not removed previously, as follows:
^ Bowl shield screw (26)
^ Bowl shield nut (44)
^ Bowl shield (33)
5. Dimmer and ignition switch assembly (45) as follows:
^ Dimmer switch nut (44)
^ Upper mounting stud (43)
^ Dimmer switch
^ Dimmer switch actuator rod (42)
^ Lower mounting stud (43)
^ Ignition switch from ignition switch actuator rod (34)

Install or Connect

Important
All fasteners in the following steps must be firmly seated before being tightened to specified torque.

Important
Lock cylinder set (25) must be in the "Off-Lock" position when installing ignition switch to insure proper switch slider positioning.

1. Place ignition switch slider in the far left position and move back one detent to the right, "Off-Lock" position.










Important
Insert a 2.34 mm diameter pin (3/32" drill bit) in adjustment hole on ignition switch to hold switch slider in proper position during installation.

2. Ignition switch to switch rod (34).
3. Ignition switch to steering column jacket assembly (35) with lower mounting stud (43) and torque to 4 Nm (35 Lbs. In.)
4. Remove adjustment tool from ignition switch.
5. Dimmer switch actuator rod (42) through hole in "IP" bracket and into hole dimmer switch rod cap (41).
6. Dimmer switch onto actuator rod (42).
7. Dimmer switch assembly on lower mounting stud (43) with dimmer switch nut (44) and upper mounting stud (43). Do not tighten.

Important
To adjust dimmer switch, insert a 2.34 mm diameter pin (3/32" drill bit). Push switch against actuator rod (42) to remove all lash.

Tighten
Dimmer switch nut (44) and upper mounting stud (43) to 4 Nm (35 Lbs. In.)

8. Remove adjustment tool from dimmer switch.
9. Bowl shield (33) to column bowl (23) and upper mounting stud (43).
10. Shield screw (26) and torque to 4 Nm (35 Lbs. In.).
11. Bowl shield nut (44) and torque to 4 Nm (35 Lbs. In.).
12. Turn signal switch connector (11) to ignition and dimmer switch assembly connector (45) and snap in place.
13. If so equipped, park lock cable into ignition switch inhibitor and snap in place as steering column is installed in car.
