Cylinder Block Assembly: Description and Operation

The cylinder block casting is a semi-open deck construction that allows the casting to be made accurately for bore wall variation with no core plugs. A deep-skirt design is used for improved engine-transaxle stiffness as well as more precise machining and a flat sealing surface for the oil pan. The main bearing caps are press-fit into the cylinder block and retained with 11 mm bolts.
