Water Pump: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative cable at the battery
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Drive belt
4. Coolant hoses at the water pump.
5. Water pump pulley bolts (long bolt removed through access hole provided in the body side rail), then remove the pulley.
6. Water pump attaching bolts, then remove the water pump.

Clean
^ Clean all gasket mating surfaces.

Install or Connect
1. Using a new gasket, install the water pump on the engine. Tighten the bolts to specifications.
2. Water pump pulley, then tighten the bolts to specifications.
3. Coolant hoses onto the pump
4. Drive belt
5. Fill the cooling system.
6. Connect the battery, then start the engine

Inspect
^ For coolant leaks.
