SUBJECT: REMOVAL OF STANDARD ANALOG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TRIMPLATE
MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 SKYLARKS WITH THE STANDARD ANALOG INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
FIGURE 1:
Reports have been received that some cluster lens assemblies are being broken due to improper technique when removing the cluster trimplate. Please adhere to the following cluster trimplate removal procedure to avoid damage to the cluster lens assembly:
1. Use your fingers to pry the trimplate up at the bottom through the two telltale windows (See Figure 1). Do not pull with your arms, but pry with your fingers, pushing against the lens assembly.
FIGURE 2:
2. Slide your fingers to the very bottom of the telltale windows and pop the trimplate straight out (See Figure 2).
NOTICE: Do not remove the trimplate by pulling out at the top first, because the anchor clips attached to the bottom of the trimplate may break the lens.
