SUBJECT: CENTER ARM REST "STAY LOCK" FEATURE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1989 CENTURY, ELECTRA/PARK AVENUE AND LESABRE MODELS

1989 Century, Electra/Park Avenue and LeSabre models with a center arm rest incorporate a STAY LOCK feature to prevent the arm rest from being opened in the vertical or upright position. A ball is used to achieve this as noted in Figures 1 and 2.

When in the down or horizontal position, see Figure 1, the ball allows the latch to be opened. When in the vertical or upright position, see Figure 2, the ball rolls to a position under the latch preventing it from being opened.
