A/T - 440T4 Plastic Oil Lube Dam

TSB 88-28 (June)

SUBJECT: Plastic Oil Lube Dam

THM 440-T4

On April 1, 1986, Julian date 091, changes were made to the input carrier assembly, output shaft, and final drive sun gear shaft.

The input carrier assembly was cut down in the center to allow for the wider 2nd type input sprag, and bored larger to accept a plastic oil lube dam. (See Figure 1)

The plastic oil lube dam, Part number 8658368, is too large in the center to fit the earlier type input carriers, so if the plastic oil lube dam will install into the input carrier, it should be used.

When the changes were made in the input carrier, changes were also made to the output shaft (See Figure 2), and final drive sun gear shaft (See Figure 3).

Be careful not to create a mismatch when replacing any of these components.

A mismatch of parts may result in loss of lubrication, which is extremely valuable to this transmission.
