BULLETIN COVERS


An intermittent rattle and/or clicking noise caused by Lo-Reverse parallel grooved fiber plates in 1989 THM 125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles. This noise is most evident in the 3rd gear range.





DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE (Figures 1 and 2)

New smooth surface fiber plates for the Lo-Reverse clutch went into production May 5, 1989, (Julian Date 125), for Willow Run built HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles and May 15, 1989, (Julian Date 135) for Windsor built HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxles.

SERVICE ACTION

If a customer comments about a rattle and/or clicking noise condition in any THM 125C/HYDRA-MATIC 3T40 transaxle, the Lo-Reverse fiber plates should be replaced with new smooth surface fiber plates.

When ordering new Lo-Reverse fiber plates for this condition refer to the following part numbers:

Parts are expected to be available on 9/1/89. Until then normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense. All other order types will be cancelled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in place.
