Engine: Service and Repair


1. Remove hood and cover fenders.
2. Depressurize and disconnect fuel lines from fuel rail.
3. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine coolant.
4. Remove radiator and heater hoses, then engine cooling fan.
5. Remove air intake duct from throttle body, then vacuum lines from the brake power booster and evaporative canister purge.
6. Remove cable bracket and cables from throttle body, then the drive belt.
7. Remove power steering pump and position aside, then disconnect electrical connectors.
8. Remove upper transaxle to engine bolts, then raise and support vehicle.
9. On models with A/C, remove A/C compressor and position aside.
10. Remove rear engine mount to mount bracket bolts.
11. Remove flywheel dust cover, then flywheel to torque converter bolts. Use a scribe to mark flywheel to torque converter relationship to ensure proper reassembly.
12. Remove lower engine to transaxle bolts. One bolt is located between the transaxle case and engine block and is installed in the opposite direction.
13. Lower vehicle, then remove front engine mount to bracket bolts, then engine assembly.
14. Reverse procedures to install.
